Lemon-Lime Tree and a glass of wine

August 7, 2014 // 0 Comments

As I was enjoying a glass of wine last weekend, I kinda had an epiphany.   I had been in the garden for a major portion of the day, working on my tomato plants that aren’t doing so well and clearly disappointing me.  After having been away for 2 weeks a major cleanup was in order and that is exactly what I was doing.

How to sew a toddler’s sleeping bag

June 13, 2014 // 0 Comments

I promised it, well, here it is! In a previous post I talked about how I did sew a toddler’s jacket from an old sleeping bag I had. Well, I used the remaining fabric to sew a small sleeping bag for my toddler. I wanted the sleeping bag to have sleeves, as my son is not used to being bundled up anymore. Since as far as I know no such pattern exists (maybe I should make one), I freehanded the pattern using a vest as a reference point. Here’s how I did it.

Homemade Pesto with Lemon Thyme Recipe

June 10, 2014 // 0 Comments

Hey! It’s been a while since I’ve made a Tasty Tuesday recipe.  Well, as you know, I’ve been busy.  But here’s my new find. Last week I noticed that my basil plants were getting better and bigger.  I decided to make my first batch of homemade pesto. As I am not one to follow recipes and guidelines, I wandered around my small garden in search of inspiration, looking for a spinoff on a great pesto recipe.

Natural remedy for ear infections

June 9, 2014 // 0 Comments

Natural remedy for swimmer’s ear that works better than doctor’s medication! I have this great homemade recipe that I use fairly often to cure outer ear infections (also known as swimmer’s ear). I have always been prone to such infections, and as far as I can remember I spent a few weeks every summer as a child having to put drops in either ears and keeping clear of the pool for an even longer period of time.

6 toddler friendly hikes in the Bay Area

June 3, 2014 // 0 Comments

I discovered hiking when I was a young adult.  As a child, my parents brought us to hiking spots when we were young, but we never really hiked, we just strolled along and stayed close to the parking lot. Only later when my sister brought me hiking in the Adirondacks in upstate NY did I really fall in love with hiking. After that I became an avid hiker. I even worked for a recreational equipment company where I could talk about climbing and hiking all day long.  I met my husband because I was looking for a climbing and hiking buddy.   Ever since I became a mother my love of hiking has been put on hold.  It’s a lot more complicated to leave home for a full day when you are sleep deprived and your baby has to follow feeding and nap schedules.
