Losing your hair after pregnancy

May 11, 2016 // 0 Comments

Here’s a disgusting pic.  Viewers discretion advised. About 4 months after having delivered my beautiful daughter, I began to lose my hair.  It’s totally normal and is caused by some changes in hormones.  But, really, losing this much hair is frightening.

Let kids be kids: a note on gender equality

September 30, 2015 // 0 Comments

The other day, while browsing Facebook, I encountered this article that tackled gender equality. As a mom of a very active little boy and expecting a little baby girl, this article went straight to the center of what’s going on in our lives.

You can never have too much yarn, I heard lately.     While I completely agree with that statement, I still like to think of myself as a minimalist.  My yarn stash fits – barely – in a storage bin, and I want to keep it that way. As I was on a cleaning and decluttering

Lemon-Lime Tree and a glass of wine

August 7, 2014 // 0 Comments

As I was enjoying a glass of wine last weekend, I kinda had an epiphany.   I had been in the garden for a major portion of the day, working on my tomato plants that aren’t doing so well and clearly disappointing me.  After having been away for 2 weeks a major cleanup was in order and that is exactly what I was doing.

I still run a few times a week.  But it wasn’t always that way. 4 years ago I got injured.  Plantar fasciitis.  I was running, hiking, climbing too much.  I got prescribed fancy schmancy orthotics.  Cost: 400$.  6 months later, after a great day relaxing at a spa with my sister, I can’t get up from the restaurant’s chair.  My back is fused.  It no longer wants to move in any direction. What is going on? To this day, I still don’t know how it happened or why.  But let me tell you what happened next and how I finally found a cure for my lower back pain. I spent the next 2 years looking for a reason, an explantation as to why this was happening to me.  I stopped doing all the activities I liked.  I saw all kinds of therapists, from shrinks to massages therapists to physical therapists. I consulted with the best doctors from Stanford and got steroids shots in my lower back.  All to no avail. After 2 years of pain where I couldn’t run a mile or even […]
