5 places to order your Farmer’s Box in the Bay Area

I recently blogged about how I began ordering a box of veggies directly from the farmer and how much I liked it.  Well, I wanted to do a good deed, so I decided to list up 5 places where you can get such a service in the San Francisco Bay Area.

Here they are, in no particular order.  Some may ship close to your neighbourhood, or to your door while others may not even serve your area.

  1. Live Earth Farm CSA – http://www.liveearthfarm.net/

This is where I ordered my veggie box. They offer a 4-week trial and that is how I got started. They serve Monterey, Santa Cruz, the South Bay and parts of the Peninsula up to San Carlos.  I love them!  I ordered the small box and I must admit that it’s a little big for our small family of 3.  See, we are not veggie eaters (even though God knows I try), and I find the small box is HUGE! See my review here

  2. Golden Gate Organics – http://www.goldengateorganics.com/

I’ve been following theses guys on Facebook for years, and they are the ones responsible for me signing up (quite unfortunate that it’s not with them.  Oh well…) Their t-shirt are really an introspection into the 70s, but it looks like their offering is much bigger than the one I signed up with. Bonus, you can choose what you want into the box, instead of receiving whatever is offered.

  3. Farm Fresh to you – http://www.farmfreshtoyou.com/

I heard about these guys first when I moved to the Bay Area, and almost signed up with them.  At the time I wasn’t ready to jump into what I thought was a “hippy thing”.  Nowadays I often see their logo here and there, meaning they are well known in the area. They deliver an assortment of fruits and veggies, and you can choose between 4 different combinations in multiple sizes. Worth a try!

  4. Full Circle – http://www.fullcircle.com/

These guys have a great offering, and are also part of a CSA (.  They serve most of the Bay and offer an assortment of fruits and veggies.  With 4 different sizes to choose from you are sure to find one that suits your needs. They have a overnight delivery, if you ever find yourself in a rush to receive your box, and plenty of pick-up spots throughout the Bay to choose from.

  5. Sustainable Produce Urban Delivery, aka SPUD – http://www.spud.com/

Half-way between a farmer’s delivery box and a full-size supermarket, SPUD lets you shop online and delivers whatever you order.  They also offer the standard fruits and veggies box, but their offering is enormous!  You can basically do all of your grocery shopping here and have it shipped to your door.  Mmmm…  I might just have to try it some time!
